Old clicky mile-ometers
Discussion
Gents
I've had my Chim from new for 6yrs now.
Unfortunately it was one of those with the clicky mile-ometers. (I was young and stupid in those days and should have kicked-up more when I bought it).
Anyway the mile-ometer has mercifully packed up altogether now and I have been amazed at how much more pleasant it is to drive without a click every 10th of a mile! How TVR (or reviewers at the time) could have thought this acceptable is beyond me.
Anyway I was wondering what is involved in changing to the later instrumentation or even using non-standard instruments (I've seen some tasty ones in US Hot Rodding mags).
I have asked people before but think I may have asked people who would rather bulls*&t than say "I'm sorry I don't know".
So, anyone out there know ?

Yep.
I've been told in the past that the drive from the gearbox is different on the digital instrumented TVRs which doesn't make it straightforward and therefore expensive to swap.
Might ask the chap at Tower View next time I'm there about what could be done.
Certainly keeping the mileage down nicely anyway....

I remember reading in one of the threads some time back that the clicking is from the speedo it's self.
apparantly the speedo is from another car and it used to have the tripometer and when TVR installed there own face they decided not to have this function, unfortunately they left the little mechanism still installed inside of the gubbins and this still trys to log up the trips.
Now, also in this thread they said you can dismantle the speedo and superglue the little bit that tries to click the milage on every 10th.
Hope this helps.
