This is gonna sound like a daft question, but where should the spare wheel live in the boot.

I have a 98R Chim, before I modified the rear end, the spare wheel used to be strapped onto the fuel tank, which made getting the roof in and out a piece of cake. When I got my car back (from Webbs, incidentally - great job), the spare wheel now lives on behind the rear drivers-side wheel arch.

Is there a right and wrong place for the spare wheel, how easy is it to move. At the momment getting the roof in and out is a pain in the arse!!

BTW, what a great day, the weather has been kind (hence roof in boot question!!)

Cheers

Steve

The new rear lights on newer chims meant the spare had to be moved onto the tank.

My 97R Chimaera has it behind the rear drivers-side wheel arch, so perhaps yours was returned with it there because they located it to the older spec?

Notice that Steve Heath advocates dispensing with the spare altogether, just recommending a can of Tyreweld...anyone dared do this? (I carry both!)

V8??...just four TL1000s zip-tied together, innit!?

I've ditched the spare for a couple of cans of tyre-weld from Halfords. Lets face it, you can't drive fast on the spare anyway, so why not save the room and just get some weld.

Mine lives in the garage and has been replaced by a couple of cans of tyreweld and a small footpump.

Looks like tyreweld is the way to go.

I've got 2 cans of tyreweld AND my spare in the car.

I'm a bit paranoid at the moment! (see my other posts)
