My alloys on my Chimaera are a bit corroded. Small areas have gone a kind of misty white colour.

Has anyone else had this, if so is there a good product to get the shiny again.

I saw a review of metal polishing products on Autocar's website, they said Autoglym's metal polish was really good for mild alloy wheel corrosion.
But when I looked at the packaging in Halfords it said don't use on laquered alloys.

Are standard Chimaera alloys laquered?

How much for, then? What are the tyres like?
My standard chimaera wheels have also corroded, and even started to bubble, round the centre cap.

the wheels are good and straight, a few scuffs here and there but look fine to me... the fronts are good s02's but the rears are Pirreli p6000's and rubbish

im changing for a set of 17inch racelines ...

I have a friend who is keen to buy a set of Griffith 500 wheels at a sensible price, how much? Please email me direct at leventechnology@btconnect.com if you have not already sold them and I will pass on the details.

The standard Chim alloys are lacquered, your best bet is to get them fully refurbed for well under £25 a wheel, especially if it isn't serious disclouring.
As for Griff wheels, YES PLEASE! If you can't sell them I'll have 'em for a fair price. Anything to stop me lashing out on a set of 17 inchers too!

think you're missing a 0. it looks like it's £250 to strip all 4 back to the metal and have them re-coated.

Sorry to hijack my own thread

But can anyone help me with my original queries?

It sounds like my alloys are laquered so Autoglym's polish is out (unless anyone knows different). So what about other products?

Graham, I've just looked at your profile. I know your car and didn't even realise it. I see it quite a lot parked quite a lot (I wont say where just in case any scumbag wanting to get their hands on a nice TVR is reading).

But I used to live in Bewdley so would see it quite a bit.

I don't live locally anymore, but I do come back to visit occasionally. Parents still live there.

I used to see your car on my way to work. I didn't have my Chimaera then, but I was looking to buy one.

cleaned my Discovery alloys with Stovax woodburning stove glass cleaner - just sprayed on and jetwashed off after about 2 mins - came up gleaming - guess its some kind of alkali - hope it doesn't bu66er up the tyres. all the brake dust just vanished- not sure if it'll make any corrosion worse

Spookybuz - new Chim 500 arrives on 12 Nov - can't wait. Going on factory visit the week before - any tips any one??? - can I get a go in a Tamora while I'm there (just so I am certain I picked the right monster)
