As a relatively new TVR ownwer (Chim 450), can anyone provide a definitive answer on tyre manufacturers?? I know we all hear how highly recommended Bridgestones are but why is this?? Are alternatives from say Michelin (Pilot Sports) really that bad? Looking for advice here as four new boots needed v soon!! Also, has anyone else noticed that the Tamora tested in Autocar this week had Avon ZZ3's front and back?! Check the side on picture! Appreciate any advice RS (Halcyon Atlantis 450)

In the short time I have had the Chimp I have been very impressed by the all round performance of the S02s on it in both the wet and the dry.

If Avon ZZ1s are anything to go by then forget it. ZZ1 is a hard tyre lasts for ages but not that grippy. I test drove a 400 chim in the wet before I knew how easy the back can come out - it had SO2s and was great, I haven't come close to doing the same with my ZZ1s.

I've used Toyo TS1s in the past with very good results and am tempted to try them on my Chimp if sizes and ratings are available...I've not checked...anyone been there? V8??...just four TL1000s zip-tied together, innit!?

..I didnt realise how incredibly light my Griff was until I took the chassis out to restore it...so I reckon the stickier the rubber the better and Bridgestone PP's are certainly sticky and in the wet theyre the only tires i'd want to use on a TVR to be honest...
