Having a problem with engine frequently cutting out when coming to a stop at junctions/rbt's etc, almost always cuts out if the stop is at the bottom of a hill. If it doesn't actually cut out when I press the clutch on stopping, the revs will drop very low momentarily before settling at a rock steady 900. Have had new fuel filter and the timing adjusted to try and cure some flatspots, which appear to have gone away. I thought this problem was related and would stop at the same time! It Hasn't, so any suggestions will be gratefully received (I don't want a three week exploratory session at the dealer!).

usual one here is the idle control stepper motor. it gets dirty and sticks. this often makes the car stall when coming to a halt.. you can either take it out and clean it or buy a new one for about 50 quid.. ALthough having said that the problem with mine was dirty injectors

Agree with Graham, Remove idle speed stepper motor on rear of plenum chamber and clean with parafin, use PTFE plumbers tape when re-assembling & don't over tighten. Should cure it, but I have found that it needs cleaning once every couple of months.
