Hi All Just considering buying a Chimaera privatley, just wondering if anyone knows of specialists or garages which would give it a once over, and what fees they charge? Could us a bog standard AA or RAC check over, but not sure if a waste of mioney on a specialist car! Thanks in advance! TVR Gaz

I think most TVR garages will do this for you (assuming you take the car to them) and just charge you for an hour or two labour. It could be £100 + well spent. Most people should be fine about taking their car to be checked out if they are serious about selling it and you are paying. You'd obviously need to check with the garages and make an appointment. Fernhurst offered to do this for me when I was looking.

forget the aa or rac no use on a car like this.... some dealers have a repitation for dissing anything they've not serviced, or are not selling so a specialist would be my best advice... www.moore-racing are in Milton keynes if thats any help. they prep race cars and know just about everything about tivs... I used the RAC, although more expensive than a dealer, gave a really good report at the end. The chap was an ex lotus/TVR man and knew TVR's very well and he owned a wedge. He found loads of little things I never noticed. In the end I bought it. He never missed a thing. Some dealers arent all they are cracked up to be.

Tower View in North London www.t-v-r-services.co.uk will also do inspections. Even if you know what you are looking for, beware of rose tinted glasses syndrome clouding your judgement! Steve www.tvrbooks.co.uk
