Hi all, I''ve got to get my 500 serviced soon and I''m toying with the idea of abandoning TVR dealerships and using a specialist. Partly this is the cost and partly because I''m not terribly impressed by TVR servicing even from a good dealer. Thames Valley Racetech are near me and I''m tempted to give them a try, but I wondered if anyone else has tried them, and if so what did you think? Cheers

I've used them quite a bit as have a few other people lurking on this and the egroups forums. Steve Howard knows his TVRs, I've had very good service from them in the past. Make sure you (and esp. your other half) are not wearing your best shoes when you visit (it's a farmyard with all the accompanying debris).

He worked wonders on my S3c in particular the steering and clutch. I would happily recomend him, except as you say he works in a field behind some stables! Ok in summer but a bit muddy come winter I guess Rich...

Steve looks after my Cerbera for me. You won't find more knowledge, honesty or attention to detail anywhere else. Are you local then, Xain? Apparently, Twyford is supposed to be a right Tiv nest!

Well there's always someone who has a different opinion. I am in the middle of what will almost certainly become a legal dispute with Thames Valley Racetech, I have regretted taking my Chimaera there almost from the first day they had it. I will be able to post more information once any legal proceedings have completed. Edited by spnracing on Wednesday 3rd October 15:26 Edited by spnracing on Thursday 4th October 08:49

I had big problems with Thames Racing Services too (enough to make me decide to sell my TVR). The unfortunate thing if you live near to them is that your local TVR dealer is Henley Heritage - oh dear. Edited by Pit on Wednesday 26th September 23:30

Hi, Hmmmm these are the first bad things I've heard about Thames Valley and would certainly be interested in hearing more. Chimp is currently with them and they seem to know what they are doing, just very slow at doing it. Would it be possible to mail further details to chris@renegadez.net. Cheers Chris

I don't know the specifics of those who have had bad experiences, but as with most places there are also many who have had nothing but good service from Thames Racing. I am one of the latter. To me the important thing is that T-V-R know TVRs inside out and I know I won't get ripped off by them. I don't leave my car there for longer than necessary, this ensures it does not get any 'unexpected' mileage or horse manure deposits. Trefor/.

Trefor, What makes you say the bit about 'unexpected' mileage? Peter Nixon.

I've left my car with Steve before and knew he needed to 'take it out for a test run' etc. However, I believe some people have found their cars going further than expected and being used for more than a quick test (sometimes this is necessary to trace a problem of course). Since I'd rather my car wasn't parked up somewhere I don't know about I make sure T-V-R know this and I collect it as soon as it is ready. T/.

Steve's looked after my Chim 500 since I bought it last year and I've always been more than happy with his work. Can I please have it back though now Steve?
