I've (still just about got) a Chimaera 500 and recently trst drove an M3 coupe(not M coupe, but same engine). Impressions? Chimaera: enough low down grunt to rip your face off, exhaust note to die for, good looks, real sensation of speed and lively feedback from the controls. Feels like a sports car. M3: engine note to die for. Completely different power delivery, power stacked higher up. Not such a sensation of speed (regardless of actual road speed). Startling looks in the case of the M coupe. Much more sanitised in terms of it's feedback. Feels like a car, albeit a quick one. I doubt you'd feel shortchanged in either, once you got used to the car in question and how it manifests its speed/power/character. But for sheer grunt and grins, I'd say go for the TVR. Sod the numbers, drive em both and take your choice. Isn't that the way to do it ? decide if you want to enjoy a special motor or pub-talk 'bhp' points. either way, you'll get a nice motor. Edited by RobM on Monday 20th August 00:13

You could possibly buy an early griff 500, then youll have even more power to play with and show off about.

Quoting BHP figures is one thing, but surly the most important figure in a performance car is BHP per tonn? I would have thought the Tiv would win hand over fist.
