Oil Pressure

I am the proud owner of an "S" 4.0 Chimera (from new)& the current millage is 22,000 When the engine temp is high my oil pressure at tick-over goes down to around 15psi Q1 - Is this normal ? my local dealer tells me the pressure is fine (dum question, is there an oil warning light) When starting from cold the pressure is up to 50 and slightly below once up to temp and crusing. Q2 - Has anyone ever had the sump plug drop out. This happened to me on a French motorway two weeks ago - massive amounts of smoke followed a distinct lack of oil - fortunately I was able to stop before all the oil had dropped out. I would like to point a finger at the dealer who last serviced it, but I had driven 1,700 miles in France (in 10 days) after the service. The oil pressure when hot was sub 30 prior to this little incident. Q3 - Why do TVR not fit a fan override swtich as standard ?? Thanks .... Dougie

Q1 yup, Q2 nope, Q3 don't know but itsa doddle to do yourself

Q1 yes, Q2 no, Q3 I thought about doing this, however if you read my thread in the griff section called mad dogs and TVR drivers, i probably wont bother. Im going to get a small numberplate though as this helps keep the temp down by about 5 deg,s

1) Yes 2) No and I'd pretty pee'd off it happened to me, and 3) I won't bother as my Griff seems pretty content to sit at around 85-100 deg. p.s. If you've had it from new you should know it has an oil light from reading the handbook...?

I also get around 30 psi on my 5.0 when cruising. Do you know why it jumped? Is 30psi normal for a 5.0? Paranoia...

I normally get 30 psi, unless it is very hot then it goes to about 7psi at tickover.
