Three month check-in and thinking ahead...
Discussion
I've been using the Chim as my daily driver since buying it earlier in the summer and have done 1400 miles in it now - it's been great fun so far.
Some of the bits I've done (or have had done) already:
Things that I plan on doing in the near future:
Some of the bits I've done (or have had done) already:
- Replaced the drive-belt and sorted out the routing - this was my first experience of doing something practical on a car!
- Fitted the ACT smooth bore elbow between AFM and Plenum
- Replaced the air filter with a new Pipercross one
- Fitted 16" wheels on the front
- Replaced the small oil breather foam filter
- Changed the side indicators to clear lenses (with silver bulbs that flash orange to replace the clear ones)
- Gave the soft top a proper clean and then re-coated with Fabsil Gold
- Had the various ignition related components replaced by my local TVR specialist - Coil/Amp/Distributor Cap/Rotor/HT Leads - I've kept most of the old bits as spares
- Had the fuel lines checked and replaced where necessary
Things that I plan on doing in the near future:
- I've booked the car in to have the underbody/chassis cleaned, refreshed, and then protected. At some point I know it'll be due a body lift/outrigger replacement/general do-over, so will cross that bridge when it comes
- Replace the front indicators with clear lenses - I've just ordered some Land Rover Lucas ones (model FV817224 with no reflector as I couldn't find any of the FV939004 model with reflector) - I'll clean these up when they arrive and will have this as a little weekend project for the winter
- Fit the BPR6ES spark plugs at the next service, and also probably get rid of the plug extenders and buy some Design Engineering Protect-a-Boots to put on the end of the leads
Like any car they do like being used regularly, sounds like you have it running well so best leave it alone!
A lot use the BPR6ES plugs with great success but its worth checking your chosen leads as if they are resistive anyway i was under the impression you would then use the BP6ES plug.
I always stuck Tesco 99 fuel in mine for the claimed cleaning properties, every little helps as they say.
Lovely colour blue that.

This ^ and use NGK with the S off the end missing you get a nice V groove electrode for no more money e.g BPR6E / BP6E and just maintain and enjoy A lot use the BPR6ES plugs with great success but its worth checking your chosen leads as if they are resistive anyway i was under the impression you would then use the BP6ES plug.

The leads that have just been fitted are the standard Powerspark ones I believe - https://simonbbc.com/TVR-V8-HT-Leads-8mm-Double-Si... - although I can't see anything on the listing to indicate whether they are resistive or not. Will ask the garage next time I am in I suppose.
Have also been reading the other thread that was just posted about deleting the plug extenders and how this has made things better on that car, maybe I'll bring my plans forward and do this even sooner now...

As long as the boot ends of your leads are angled (ideally 45degs), that's a super easy change.
If your leads have straight boots, then they will probably rest on the exhaust manifolds, which will last you one journey.
Even using heat shields on the boots won't work if they are touching the manifolds.
