chimaera bilstein shocks
Discussion
Hi all. I got the shocks off the car & now want to remove the springs to check the actual shock operation , before looking for some new units. The springs are a mess but are available. Is there any particular spring compressors that will do these shocks. The ones I have are ok for large springs bit these are very narrow. Any help appreciated.

Some ideas here, not sure if bike spring compressors will do it.
If they are original they are probably due a refurb anyway, quite a bit of money but most take the opportunity to fit the later spec Bilsteins which come fully assembled but make quite a difference to the feel of the car and well worth it.

Half way down the thread above is a photo of the process I used when disassembling Bilstein springs and dampers a few years ago, I did 6 of them in the end. I still found them very hard to compress so I used 3 x small ratchet straps myself.
On reassembly you may need to protect the coils a little or be prepared to re-touch them up afterwards, ask me how I know.
