My brake fluid has decided to relocate to the footwell carpet, filling the servo on the way! New parts are on order from Racing Green (out of stock with other suppliers). However, they stipulate the reservoir should not be removed from the master cylinder as this would invalidate their warranty. This has got me scratching my head as I cannot see how the cylinder can be removed/refitted with the reservoir in place. Only option would appear to be cutting a new access hole in the wing top, which I’m not keen to do!

Anybody else had this conundrum or have a cunning plan to get round the issue? The job looks bad enough as it is without additional complications. Thanks folks.

Buy one not from tvr parts place for half the price, don't worry about the warranty and fit it however you want? hehe

Are you just changing the master cylinder, not the servo?

You can't fit the servo via the access hatch, you'll have to remove the pedal box and can then extract the master cylinder and resevoir complete from inside the footwell

I had a similar thing this year, but started with the clutch m/c. I ended up replacing the brake hydraulics too because the servo was rusty, so I took out the pedal box to check it all over.
There was a load of gunge between the servo and brake m/c, so I decided to replace all of that too.
I got the parts from a few sources - not a difficult job overall but a pain in the wallet.
For the brake cylinder and reservoir, the replacements from Motaclan were more sturdy than what I took out. I did have to slightly elongate the hole to accommodate the marginally longer overall assembly, but only by around 10mm.
Take a look here if it’s useful:

Thanks all for the help and guidance. New master cylinder and servo due to arrive today so I. In the process of stripping out the old parts.

The clutch m/c was a little challenging to remove, so I’ve now welded a short piece of bar across the bolt heads in the hope this will make it slightly easier to refit or replace in future. Time will tell if this was a stroke of genius or madness!

Interesting!
Mine was ok to get to with a small socket set, and I pondered using Allen bolts when refitting. Locking nuts will hold it still, and then a little prayer that it lasts a decade at least!
Would be interested to see how you get on with it
