Hi all

My key fob failed this afternoon. Luckily i was at home. The small white button no longer springs back.

I have put new batteries in my second fob, but it won't 'energize' the ignition.

Assistance would be gratefully received.

Does the second fob lock & unlock the doors?

If so have you tried locking & unlocking & try again.

If not could it be the "new" batteries are no good?

Do you have the little plastic tag that fits in the slot by the ignition as an alternative method of deactivating immobiliser.

Smokin... I have meta tags though i cant find any slots. I have the car re-trimmed 3 years ago . I guess the trimmer removed the 'slots' ...

Dokey.

Do the doors unlock/lock, or is it just the immobiliser that doesn't work?

If nothing works, and the batteries are good I've known the fobs to need pairing again. (And how to do that shouldn't be published on a public forum)

Smokin...

Noted. I'll give Graham at Fernhurst a call tomorrow . I used to have the TIV serviced there before they stopped servicing.

A car key specialist may well be able to sort your original key for you, and then re-pair the second one to the car.
I had my TVR setup (I have the later Meta system, mine is a 1999 car) changed by Carl Baker (www.tvruk.tv).
There is also another TVR specialist in the UK, brain fog is causing me to forget his name, sorry.
I had similar problems with my Nissan X Trail, and the local car key expert fixed it for £40, repairing the original key.
Good luck - I suspect you are not in the UK?

Following a telcon with Graham of TVR Fernhust, I will have a new modern system fitted. He has recommended a place in Borden, Hants.
