Aluminm Radiators

I need to replace the current brass/copper rad in my 1996 Griffith and the only ones readily available now appear to be aluminium.

I have been looking at the Radtech, Coolex and Motoclan offerings.

What experience have owners had with these or others .

Same for me, used those guys and its been on the car around 8 years. No issues at all so far.

Although appreciate there is a view that Ali rads can tend to crack more easily than traditional copper. But as above, so far its all good for me.

One was fitted to my Griff when I purchased it 15 years ago, sprang a small leak a few months later, had it recorded by a local place, and it's been problem free since.

Mounting it solidly can cause fracturing I think ,as no inherent flex that a steel rad has.

Are you sorted for a Rad matey? My Chim needed a new one and my specialist isn't keen on Alu ones, so sourced me a re-cored one near us in Sheffield. I can find the address if you want to get yours done.

Hi Mutley, not sorted yet I would prefer a recore but was not aware that firms are still doing it thus asking about Ali ones.
Please forward the address, My brass/Cu one has lasted from 2011 so not too bad. Boston Radiators recored it then not sure that they are still in buisness. I did put some springs on top of the exhaust bobbins that TVR mounted the rad on to give the rad a bit more protection from the twisting chassis, 12 years is fair enough.
