Hi

New TVR owner here, I got back from being away two weeks and could not get in my car, I changed batteries on the fob and nothing happened ! I used a method to drop the roof and get in the car, put keys in ignition and no lights as expected, the trouble is my battery is in the boot so how the hell do I get in my boot now as the solenoid is obviously not working to open it? Could someone PM me how to get in the boot of my car to access the battery.

redistribute the weight-balance by knocking out the windows and draining the fuel tanks - allowing one to get out and load rocks on, making the vehicle safe and allowing the battery to be rescued from the boot.

Just a thought is there any way I could hook 12v power up to the boot opener solenoid ? Assuming it is a 12v solenoid ?

If you’ve bothered to make this post Andy, can you now go ahead and PM him the actual answer?

Attach a suitable power source to the engine via the big cable on the back of the alternator or starter motor and a ground.

This
Jack car up
Put on stands
Put jump cables on starter motor, make sure you get the connections the right way around.
Put those cables on to a battery
Ignition on, pop boot.

Then drill a hole from the boot into the rear bulkhead and feed a battery charger cable in and never suffer the issue again.

Nice tip on the battery charger cable idea

Yep, those velcro bits on the roof are quite useful - second tip is to get a fluffy tennis racquet handle cover and wrap the incoming wire in it.
Cost me around £3 on ebay

For the future drill 2 holes in the underside of the boot. Fit button head stainless bolts in the holes from the underside.
Connect one of those bolts to earth and the other to the solenoid wire.
Only you (and the rest of PH) will know that touching 12V plus and minus to those bolt heads will open the boot.
