Good morning can anyone help please, i am nearly at the end of a full body off restoration and i am now at the point of trying to turn the motor over for the first time. i have now realised i may have a missing connection to the spade connection on the back of the starter motor. I have found a wire in all the old part i have with a spade connector attached at one end but nothing on the other end. For the life of me i cant remember taking this off and typicaly its the only thing i have no photos of. Can someone tell me or post a photo where or if the wire from spade on the back of the start motor connects to as i cant see any availbe connetion points. Any help on this would be very much welcome, i have been at this for the last couple of day and its totaly stumped me now. Thanks

Non specific info coming up... but while you wait for the Chim experts... have you tried attaching that spade to the solenoid and seeing where that length of lead could take you?

Google images seems to think that the solenoid wire is sheathed in with the power to the 100 amp fuse

It should be white/red in colour.
Are you saying the wire is completely missing?

There could be a starter solenoid relay waiting to be found, short run from solenoid to relay

Apon inspection of mine it goes up above the gearbox towards the fusebox, so it must connect to a relay/connector in the passenger footwell.

Mine has a black plastic tube around it and it joins the main loom above the gearbox on the drivers side from what I can see

I seem to remember it running with the large starter cable.
No start relay or remote solenoid as standard on these.
Can't recall where it goes when it enters the cabin but it is via the immobiliser too.

Thanks for the letting me know I should be looking for a white/ red wire, the loose one i found in the box of bits is a black wire so that might be another head ache down the line. I am now thinking it might have broken off and the end is no sitting in the loom, might have to start opening up the protective plastics tubing and have a look see.

My one was just plain black with a black plastic spade connection on it

Maybe put a test light on it and see if has 12 volts when cranking.
Could be the cable you need as Tvr wiring sometimes differs.

Mine too. The published wiring diagrams show white/ red but they seem to ignore the immobiliser...
