Drivers side indicators are on all the time, all 3 and not flashing, no matter what position the indicator stalk is in or the ignition switch, I have lifted the dash and removed the indicator relays be by one with no change and then all at the same time with no change, next I tried the fuses and found the lights go off if I remove F6, the indicators then work as expected from the stalk but no hazards, I see on some cct diagrams that F6 is for Alarm and hazards, the alarm system does not work with f6 removed, any thoughts of either how to fix or bypass easily as I was hoping to go to a car show in the morning??
It’s a 95 500 with the foxguard alarm

Hi Belle427, yes they did, a few spa on the unit, reconnect and all ok, I will PM you and start thinking about a new alarm, any recommendations from anyone for a plug and play alternative with a boot opener possibility ??

These guys repair the foxguard if that's the way you wanted to go.
They may be able to suggest an alternative.
Boot release would need to be added.

Hi Paul

Although one handed indicator circuit seems to have failed, It's possible to use the good handed circuit to operate a relay to supply the other hand

Hands down I'm confusing myself now but at a guess you will understand where I'm coming from

Another way of getting more life out of the alarm system is to chop the cable that supplies the indicators when it shouldn't be and rely on the signals from the fully functioning good side

Thanks for the idea Polly but I think that it seems a bodge too far, I will fix it properly following a discussion with the experts concerning repair or replace

Pulling fuse 6 points me to the switch control module.
On a 97 car fuse 6 is nothing to do with alarm or immobiliser so they are not the culprit.
The indicators are supplied by fuse 15. For now you can drive with fuse 6 pulled but you will not have hazards. But first check that your side and head lights still work.

I'm suspecting one of the relays in the control module has burnt closed. They are cheap but not that easy to replace unless you are a dab hand with a soldering iron.
I can send you a circuit for the module innards if needs be.

Hi Steve
Unfortunately with f6 pulled I could not operate the immobiliser, I was hoping as per most circuits in the bible that it would just disable the indicators, but actually it disabled the immobiliser and hazards, but indicators would work correctly, I removed all 5 of the relays on the indicator panel one by one as well as all together with no change, rh indicators still on, a few taps to the Foxguard module and everything started working ok so I need to go down that route for repair or replacement

Agreed, a fix is better

Here's a video about a new alarm system called Invader 2000, you can record your own voice and load it into the alarm

Yes it seems you have found the problem. With it holding one indicator circuit open then I suspect it is FUBAR.

Not completely FUBAR just yet, but we all know that these things only get worse over time
