Hope someone can help me? My 94 4.0 Chimaera has developed an intermitent fault, every now and again, at least once every journey, when you depress the loud pedel nothing happens, changing down a gear and flooring it usually cures it, it seems a bit like a fueling problem, but don''t realy know what to look for. Any ideas?

What do you mean nothing happens? No acceleration at all? What happens if you slow down slightly and try again in the same gear? How long are you holding the accelerator down?

example: driving on motorway doing a steady speed, revs drop to 800rpm even though my right foot has not moved, if I don't change down I just come to a stop with the engine ticking over, a few prods of the accelerator and it's back to normal.

Check that, it seems to be ok, also cleaned the soot out from the butterfly, not been for a good run yet, Donington on Saturday should test it.

I had the same or a similar thing happen - was the throttle pot. Fixed under warranty.

After giving the inside of the butterfly a good clean with a cloth soaked in petrol it seem to be fine, it was very sooty, it has been faultless all weekend. I hope that sorted it.
