Windscreen wiper and washer upgrade
Discussion
I'm sure there is a thread somewhere here dealing with this but damned if I can find it.
The old Leven system worked fine but not obvs not available anymore. I'm seeing the option to switch to flat blades with the washers re-clipped onto the arm. Ebay suppliers.
Anyone done this, had experience of how well they work ? Can point me to a previous thread.
Cheers

The best mod I made to my Griff's windscreen wiping was to put Rain-X on the screen, then the wipers were rendered almost redundant. The next step, just in case of need, was to change the blades to frameless aero style as they follow the shape of the glass much better than the framed ones.

Where did you source those, I need to change mine. I'm looking at fitting these flat blades with the washer nozzle clipped to the arm...

Agree with Griff50tvr. Rainex or bluecoll equivalent already makes a huge difference. Just need to get some blades that don't smear and don't require reverting to the innovative/crap original TVR solution of a rolled plastic tube to deliver the washer fluid !

As I didn't know if they would be better than the framed ones, I just bought cheapies off Flebay, so nothing special but work much more effectively than the originals. I haven't made any changes to the washers so the old dribbling loop is still on the car.Edited by griff50tvr on Sunday 14th February 17:11

Another vote for RaineX. Of all the car care products I have bought over the years, RaineX takes the crown. In the last year I have bought AngelWax H2Go (same as Rainex) and it is as good as, if not better.
I'm interested to find out what blades are available that hug the windscreen too. Will keep an eye on this thread.

So, got this kit off eBay at £29.40. Conversion to flat blade wipers - similar blades available from Bosch at Halfrauds for £20 each.
Instructions almost nil, but managed to figure it out. New, flat wiper blades and clip-on 4 way washer nozzle (2 prob fine!). Hardest part was getting the old Leven blades off.
Yet to use in anger on a rainy motorway, but working fine with the washer system.

I think that the jets are these, well I've just bought them so I'll update if not..

Probably the best £4 I've spent on my car. If you've got decent wipers but are still using bits of tube as washers buy these, a meter of 4mm tube and 2 small cable ties.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-X-Windscreen-Arm-Wash...
Have just put the full kit on, new blades and those nozzles/jets. In doing so the t-junction came loose. So, dash off. Thankfully someone already had this problem. I've made a small modification running a straight through joint near the steering wheel and a new t joint on the passenger side. I have a masticed in flap on the passenger side.
All seems to work a treat. I'll wait for my next big outing to report back.
In other news, my dash top is off and will remain off until Friday if anyone needs pictures.

Best money I ever spent was on the Tvr parts upgraded wiper motor, not cheap but probably the best mod I did to my car.
Classic thread resurrection moment, @Belle, which motor did you go for?Mine seems to be working fine, but it has wobbled a couple of times in light rain.
I don't mind spending money when it's the right thing to do, but this feels a bit punchy at £230:

That's the one, has gone up in price though slightly so is a bit ott.
I think someone is still refurbing the originals, Adrian Venn is a name that rings a bell.(unsure on spelling)
There are quite a few threads mentioning his name, I ghink he is contacted via Facebook profile.

Before you change the motor measure the voltage actually reaching the motor in slow speed see here:

In typical TVR fashion, it's working quite nicely now, but I have a loose plan to take the cover off the mechanism and clean/regrease, but as the weather is a little warmer it's happier.
I will bite the bullet at some point though on that motor, maybe start by taking the motor apart myself and seeing if there are any obvious things to replace (bushes for example).
Incidentally, I have the same wipers and squirters as the picture above, and it works well (until the tube popped off the t-junction - but solved now)
