High level brake lights - should I?

Getting bored and looking for things to tinker with on the Chim. I have been considering fitting high level brake lights but I don't want anything that looks too after-market. I was thinking about recessing LEDs into the upper halves of the roof stays. Also add switching to turn them off when the stays were in the folded position. I can't come up with a reasonable solution that will work for roof up and down. I definitely don't want to fit one to the boot lid as this would not be high enough to make a meaningful difference. Any thoughts???

A high level fitted to most cars is hard up against the rear window glass. If you fit them to the stays they will be away from the surface so will light up the whole interior of the car so not a good idea.

That crossed my mind but then I saw the Tuscan brake light arrangement. That sits off the window, not sure if Tuscan's suffer glare from them.

I’ve fitted to both my cars on the roof stays and in daytime use you can’t see any reflection whilst driving. In dusk or dark I would rather have that slight reflection on the rear screen and know that the rear lights are intense enough and high enough for idiots behind to see them. I used autoleds e marked items

If you're going to have a high level brake light sort out one can that be seen all the time, not only when hood is up, although that probably is most of the time on a Chimaera, and not only by idiots (SMB)

there is no other way to have a high level vs low level central brake light on a chimaera/Griffith. If you put it on the boot its invisible to any car behind the one directly behind you as the cars are much lower than modern day vehicles. I use my cars with the central section in the boot and the rear hoop up so it works for me.

I installed my high stop onto the boot lid before it was sent out to NZ.

Even if you work out a way to mount a light at the top of the rear screen it still isn't that
high compared to many modern cars. You realise how low our cars are when someone
pulls up alongside you at a junction or roundabout and all you can see is the dirt in their
wheel arch.

They'd have to be on the roof then - which is ok for Chimps as they always have their roof up. Us S owners would have a problem with that

How about something like these?

30% more powerful stop and tail light bulbs. Job done.
Simply apply brake lights when someone sits to close and you watch em fall away lol.

Fact is these have the desired effect as since these were fitted vehicles stay further off my tail. Very pleased with the outcome,

I like that, much simpler than the solution I had in mind. I need a challenge though, perhaps a switch that automatically disables the lamp when the roof is down
