Can anyone recommend a good body repair speciallist. Particularly one that can collect. I huge mommentary lapse of intelligence has caused my Chim to spit me into a hedge backwards. The damage apears to be rear end only, but who knows what structural damage could be done, fortunatley I was only doing about 40. Many thanks Steve and his ''mangled green arsed chimp''

Martin, Yes, Webbs did look good (judging by pistonheads comments and the Webbs web site). What interests me is the fact that they can do an estimate on a decent set of piccies. Not being morbid, I've taken a few piccies of the damage and will scan them and email them over to Webbs tommorrow. Only bugger is that they're in Bristol and In in Milton Keynes. If I can arrange for my insurance co (Privilage) to use them then I will go for that option. The other alternative is my dealer Henley Heritage, but I've heard such bad press about them, plus I know that their bodyshop is external anyway. But at the end of the day I'm not paying for the repair. Unless it's under 2K (which I doubt very much), to save claiming, and hoiking new years premium up. Will post up details when I know, in case some other poor bugger got caught out this weekend by the rain. Steve

For a TVR dealer, I'd recommend Hawthorns or Fernhurst, don't know about independants. B

Fordy, No, I had no problems with HH, infact they seem very good. I think I will go to HH for the work since they know me and the car. Plus I spoke to them over the weekend about the shunt. I've just done the insurance bit and they've let me nominate a body repair place (not done this kind of thing before!!). Providing HH can turn it around quickly I'll go for that. Of course, any info I get, I will feed back. Quite fancy Webbs since they do a nice picture by picture documentation, which could be useful. Steve

Snap, fordy, Just spoken to Webbs this morning seemed very helpfull, things about 5-6K for my new ass. They're gonna pick mine up tommorrow. Interestingly Jason mentioned that he has a couple of cars in from Privilage also - good. Kind of wrote HH of since they're bodyshop is an external co. anyway, so why not go for the best. We shall see

Yep, I was quoted roughly the same time (something to-do with manufacturing the parts - suppose it makes sense since TVR is fairly low volume, I guess they're not likely to have a spare nose or arse kicking around!!!) But 6 weeks is a long time considering the car is a convertable and how short British summers are. Great!! I get it back for autumn and break it again on wet leaves (sorry, feeling sorry for myself!!) Luckly my Chim is a weekend car and I commute to work via Branson's finest!!. I'm a bit miffed cos I'm going to the GP next weekend, and would have liked to take it there (esp if the sun is out!!). Arse, back to the Ford Fu*kus instead (yawn!!) Steve

Guys, Don't want to put a downer on you but mine was hit by someone at the end of April, I'm still waiting but hopefully due back this week. Someone did say to me double whatever duration the bodyshop tells you. The longest wait we had was for a boot lid believe it or not, and the CD changer took a hit which is the last thing we are waiting for. Apparently they build bare shells at Blackpool every now and again and when the the bodyshop contacts them, if the bit is available they lop it off and send it. This being the case they generally don't take yours apart until the new bit has arrived as they can't be sure where the new one was cut. Typical eh lovely weather for the last few weeks and I MAY get mine back this week while the weather is pants. Steveab, I too am going to the GP, look out for a Starmist Blue Chimaera (if it's back) and give us a wave (if you can bear it!)otherwise company eurobox it is!

Also remember that the factory closes for a couple of weeks in August... I suffered the loss of my car from August to October when someone kindly drove into the side of it. The door TVR sent down had different hinges to mine so wouldnt fit. We then had to wait for the new hinges. When these finally arrive the door was attached but was to big for the opening so had to be cut down. It was a complete nightmare... I was without the car for the whole summer. Graham

Mark, I will look out for you at the GP, especially if you're driving in on GP day, cos I'm taking the chopper in!!! Sorry, didn't mean that, I still bitter. Ah well, at least the guy from Webbs is due any minute to pick my Chimp up. Fordy, its a shame you've got the old style body otherwise we could have just hold of a new body and you'll take the nose, I'll take the arse (ooerr!, I'm a married man!) Steve

Fordy, Are you based in Wokingham? because the guy who just picked up mine Chim is doing another pick-up in Wokingham before heading back to Bristol. If it is you then give her a wave!!! Steve

Chris, Yes it came from HH back in March. Originally I was after a Cerbera and I looked at an Imperial Blue Cerbera 4.2 (with a very similar reg plate) but the servicing and running costs worried since I knew that it would be a weekend car. The Cooper greens nice since its not a common green like Starmist or Cureton (I'm fond of all greens) having been big into Mini's in my adolesence the Cooper green was very appealling. Not seen you're amythest colour before, nice, where does it come from (ie manufacture, is it Mazda or Nissan colour?) Steve
