My 94 4.0L Chimp doesn''t like idling in town after a longish journey (20 miles+). It idles fine when you''ve just started it up, but get stuck in traffic and it keeps cutting out. Any ideas? Getting too hot? (I don''t think its that because the temp is always between 70-90 in traffic and the fans kick in and out ok) Oil pressure also seems fine. The car has only just been serviced and isn''t due for another for 6k. Any help appreciated...

Had the same problem on my 4L Chimp two years ago. Had ???Lambda???sensors replaced by dealer. Fine after that.

My Chimaera 500 had a lambda sensor replaced and that cured the bad running problems.

Thanks guys. I'll get that investigated... I've just read the HI REVVING ON IDLE thread, the stepper motor also gets mentioned on there. Is that worth a look at as well?

Just a general observation on this site: I notice the majority of faults occur on TVRs AFTER they have been serviced. Deliberate or just heavy handed technicians?!

Very interesting point ! I was actually thinking the same thing today as my Chimp 500 has become dificult to start. Not long after its service, and following me connecting the Lamda sensor on one side which had been left dangling after the service.

Any idea how much a TVR dealer is going to charge me to replace the lambda sensor(s), parts and labour?
