Just over a week now since picking up my 97 P 4.0l with 12K on the clock. As suggested, I''ve tried normal unleaded fuel but the engine seems a little lumpy and ''jerky'' at low revs. Is this normal and should I just revert to Super Unleaded? Expensive though!! Also, oil. Is Mobil the recommended oil to use? Thanks for any advice, Lee (Guildford)
I have spoken to a lot of people from the trade and have found from my own experience that M1 is too thin. Ihave been advised to use a 10/40 mineral for 2/3000 miles to deglaze the rings/bores then revert to 10/40 synthetic, I use Texaco F3. Already the oil consumption has gone from 3/500 miles a litre to 1000 miles a litre, no soot on the back of the car and the oil stayed clear longer
I now run mine on
Leaded if i can get it = Best, and it makes you feel so much better if its pumping lead...
LRP = almost as good
Super = not quite as good but not by much
unleaded = driving to work.... no pinking but pickup not as good as the others
I'll let you guess howcome i can run any fuel
