I have a very small leak in my rad (dealer has noticed slight wetness(ooh er) beneath radiator. They don''t recommend that the rad be changed just yet, but instead I try the ''dog turd''approach. It looks like a lump of s**t which you put in the swirl tank & works like Rad Weld but better. Anyone know the name of this stuff & has any one used Rad Weld to sort a minor leak? Cheers, Nick.

had exactly the same prob, used rad weld which works fine, trouble is after use it dumps a pint or so as it cools and contracts. I am having the rad changed under warranty to be safe, it's up to you but I'd change it while you can

Vroom, Had the same problem only a few weeks ago. Problem started with a minor leak, which had no effect whatsoever. Used Rad weld thinking it would be fin for a while. Unfortunately hot weather arrived and the thing decided to act like a damn in holland!! Was losing a hell of a lot of fluid by the end, i.e. having to top it up every trip. **** myslef thinking it couldnt just be the rad as it wouldnt lose that much so quickly. Got my brother (Tricky2bruv) to look at it a low and behold it was pissing evrywhere under high pressure. Thank god!! Save yourself the agony!! New rad from TMS £175. If you contact our kid he might even be able to pop it in for you. Took him less than two hours to do mine?

Apache - Are you filling the expansion tank up to near the top? I know this is recommended, but my Chimaera hates it when I do that. It spits water out until the tank is half full then doesn't use any for more months. Try not filling it so much - might save you the cost of a rad. Of course be careful and watch the level like a hawk! Trefor/.

Know what you mean Trefor. If I fill my expansion tank near to the top I can guarantee that it will be close to the bottom after 50 miles. However, if I leave it at the bottom it stays there for ages. I even drove around for an hour with the lid off the expansion tank yet the temp never got above 90 and I didn't have to fill it up either, explain that one!

Mine's exactly the same, and it's about the same age as Trefor's. Must be a 'they all do that, sir'...

I thought the expansion tank should only be half full, otherwise it has nowhere to expand to. It's the swirl pot that needs to be full.
