Steering rack gaiters
Discussion
I've been fitting Duraboots for years now. Made of neoprene so don't crack or split like original rubber ones do. Also use this on CV boots. My Chim has Bailcast gaiters and boots and no issues at all.

I bought the DBSR200 boots from Bailcast based upon the recommendation here but found they are way too small at the rack end. 13MM too small (43mm vs 56mm for the old boot) so I called Bailcast to discuss.
After some measuring and checking the very helpful chap I spoke to agreed to send me a set of the DBSR300 to see if they are a better fit and it looks like they are much close.
HOWEVER, the rack is very close to the chassis rail indents for the rack making it very difficult to stretch the boots (they still need a bit of a stretch to fit) over the rack end.
Is it easier just to unbolt the rack(leaving the PS lines attached) for a bit more space or is there another technique I'm missing?

I managed to fit the new gaiters by getting a mate to get the lip over the top and rotate them while I lay underneath the car and used a couple of cable ties as "tyre levers" and flipping the lip of the gaiter over the end of the rack.
The correct gaiters (for my 2000 V Chimaera with power steering) are DBSR300 from Bailcast and I have to say they were brilliant.
I called to tell them that the DBSR200 wouldn't fit and spoke to (I think) the business owner who sent me a set of the DBSR300 to try asked me to feed back the outcome. Replacements arrived next day and as soon as I fitted them I called and they will be updating their catalogue.
Although the gaiters did need trimming on the larger end (as they are multifit) they are excellent quality and very stretchy.
