anyone ever changed the front wishbone bushes??
Front end of my car is begining to feel ''loose'', so i think its time to change the wishbone bushes - they look fairly accessable, has anyone ever done it - is it easy??, do i need any special tools???
cheers
Chris
thanks. It sounds a bit more involved than i was hoping so i think ill leave that job to the dealer - anyone know what the average charge is for this job???
thanks
where are you based, im having mine done at the mo near MK. including having the arms shot blasted and repainted.
im based in maidenhead, berkshire - its going to Fernies tomorrow for its service, but i would imagine they would be expensive for the wishbone bushes.
probably, mine are only costing about 50 quid each all in, but the car is in bits having the suspension an d brakes modded at the same time so there is no strip down charge in that
Well, its back from Fernies - I have to say firstly that i was very impressed with them. Anyway they just tightened a few things and it no longer feels 'loose', no mention that the bushes need replacing - although i did have to replace both rocker cover gaskets which were leaking - car feels great now - They also confirmed that my mildy glowing red light is a diode gone in the alternator - although it is charging fine at the moment - anyone ever taken the alternator off - i looked but can see how the belt is tensioned - is it one of those concentric water pump jobs????
cheers
chris
Had the front wishbone bushes replaced on my Chimp by a local garage a couple of years back, bought the bushes myself from the dealer though, but saved a fortune on labour costs.. a competent garage should be able to do this job.
