I''ve had a Chimaera for 12 months from new and both seat belts are badly frayed as I believe the mountings have been incorrectly fitted. I''ve only covered 4000 miles so I''m not convinced by the dealer''s diagnosis of "It''s just wear and we''re not sure it''s covered under the warranty". If anyone else has suffered from the same fault I''d be interested to hear from you.

I've owned two chimaeras, with mileages of 32k and 36k, and I didn't see fraying on either. Where are they rubbing? Dr C

Talking of seatbelts, my wife has a problem where the edge of the belt rubs across her neck, OurFreds do these things that clip on to the belt and do something or other not sure what though. Anyone else had similar problems? BTW: Sorry to completly change the subject!!!

My 36K 97 Chimaera hasn't got any fraying. Sounds very bad. Which dealer was it? Mine does get caught on the hood fabric when the top is down. It almost looks like the top pulley is in the wrong place. It's stopping the hood from folding down further, and I think it would have been better on the frant of that panel instead of the top. Any thoughts?

My 'S' plate Chimaera has no fraying at all. And its used A LOT. No reason why it should have done that unless they are incorrectly fitted that I can think of. Mind you. When I have the roof down the plastic of the roof does come into contact with the seat belt stopping it from moveing totally freely. But only sometimes (e.g. when its very cold and the plastic isn't feeling flexible). Even that hasn't caused a problem.... Doesn't sound right to me.. Edited by Don on Tuesday 22 May 21:06

My driver's belt is fraying along the edge a bit - I'll make sure they check it at the next MOT ('95 N reg'd with 40,000 miles on the clock). I also have the problem of the folding hoop touching the seatbelt mounting when folded, thus preventing it going down as far as some TVRs. Not all TVRs are the same! Trefor/.

Thanks folks, this will give me some ammo to use if and when the dealer tries to solicit a payment. I'll let you know the dealer's name after the new belts have been fitted. The belts have been frayed by the reel holders.

Trefor, maybe a bit late, but my 96 38K has its originals and no fraying either...
