Have I got a duff alarm fob or is the range generally crap. I''ve changed the batteries but I still need to be less than a meter and a half away to arm / disarm. Plus its a bit slugish, ie you have to press and hold for 3 or 4 secs before anythings happened. I''ve got a 98R Chim 4.5, so I think the system is a Gemini one. Any ideas or am I being dim? other cars (non TVR) seem to have a decent range.

I have a similar car to yours......join the annoyed gang! Mine occasionally locks me out too... especially in petrol stations! where I have to wait for 5 mins for the alarm to reset.

Hey! The alarm on my car is the one thing that seems to work flawlessly. I reckon the range is a good 12-15 feet on a good day. Great fun scaring people from afar when they're peering at the car

Try holding the fob lower, the signal is picked up off the chassis. That should give you an extra foot or so

Cheers Rob, I'll give that go. I get a bit paranoid of holding the fob button down for too long since it (apparently) sets of the alarm for 'personal protection'! Fortunatley, I've not looked like a complete div yet in a car park, but I suspect my time will be due (probably when someone is waiting impatiently for the space!!!)
