Finally picked up my M-reg 4L Chim after buying it a month ago -drove it back from Preston to berks, no problems at all - loverly. I do however have a few questions - 1. The Oil presure light seems to be on very dimly - the oil presure gauge is showing good presure of 40 Ilbs, it seems like the presure switch is leaking current slightly - does anyone know where abouts the sensor is??? 2. The temp gauge shows the wrong temp - it seems to read 10-20degress more than what it is - the fans switch in and cool it down, but when the fans switch in the temp gauge shows 110C!! - Ive bought the car off my friend, so i know its always been like this, and weve measured the temp and it reads as it should, fans coming in at 90C, so its just the gauge is wrong - I did notive this morning though, that the wire that goes to the temp sensor has been extended and disappears under the distributer and the old sensor is used - does anyone know if this was a TVR mod at some point, seems like its using a different sensor in a different place - cant see exactly where it goes. I think there all electrical based problems, as the car runs fine, start every time, hot or cold and has been used every day for the last 18 months cheers for any help Chris

Sounds like the oil sender is stuffed ( hope ) Dunno where it is, but the last one i changed was a 5 min job & cost £2.50. I've never seen an accurate temp guage, they all do that sir. I think its just best to forget the readings & just go by the needle position. Have fun

TVR temp gauge's are the finest calibrated instruments known to man Always listen for the fans kicking in if you're in slow traffic and the temp's reading near the top of the gauge - the fuse has a tendency to blow or the otter switch can fail allowing the engine to boil over. A lot of owners fit a manual override switch to use when in traffic to keep the fans on and the engine cooler.
