Hands free Kit
Discussion
Hi
I fitted a Nokia hands free kit to my Chimaera, and then removed it a couple of days later, as every time i spoke to someone they always asked if I could pick up as they could not hear a thing I said due to the noise within the cabin.
For your information I mounted it on the door somewhere at the speaker, I then put the aerial in the door cavity, the reception was great but as I said no one could hear me.

I had a Nokia car kit in my Chimaera before I changed it to a Tuscan (have the car kit in that also). The installers made up a custom bracket to mount it on the passenger side of the centre console near the hazard lights button. The mike was mounted on the dash to the right of the speedo. That protected it from a lot of the wind noise. The car speakers were used for the output. Needed to speak up a bit a speed to be heard but was useable up to about 90mph (on the continent of course!). Biggest problem was the volume from the speakers. Wasn't really loud enough at speed.
The convenience of no wires for charging, ear/mike piece etc was worth it.
Things should get a lot better with bluetooth arriving now though. Just plug the phone into a in-car charger anywhere in the car and stick the headset on. Now wires, perfect reception, hopefully!
