47OM in a ditch...
Discussion
So.... Who were you?
This happened about 4 o'clockish yesterday just outside Tetbury, Glos.
Having noticed the bright green Atom in the ditch, we drove past, and saw the very recognisable 470M plate. You can just make out another car with it's headlights on in the distance - we stopped by to say hello.
Ironically for them we'd just picked up our Minno trailer for the Caterham, and was hitched empty to the back of the car. We asked what happened and offered our help, the reply came "...just lost it", the passenger (possibly the driver at the time) looked a little coy, probably contemplating what had just happened, and thanking his lucky stars he'd finished up a rizzler paper's width from that tree. The road was a little damp with lots of tree cover, there's terrible traction on that particular stretch and I think the car was on 48's, not my first choice in January. It's a favored stretch of road by the 70+ brigade for taking lunchtime outings in their Matiz's, Move's, Agila's and other trolleys. Baring the plate in mind I asked if they were from the factory, the response was no and the guy on the drivers side pointed to the passenger and said that it was his. They were almost certainly press.
I think by that point they'd cottoned on to the fact we knew what it was, so we wished them luck and headed off. We'd imagined there'd be someone popping by in just a little while to retrieve what was left and have a little chat.
The front suspension looked pretty shot... Other than that, the new Ariel's a great looking car, especially in green.
