Hi,
Anyone know if the gauge bears any relation to the truth or whether it is just a comedy add-on?

My gauge went from 38 Litres to empty (0 litres)in 120ish miles today.
Stopped at a garage with the "sorry SUL tanks empty" excuse, so I put in nine litres to make the next decent garage and the gauge then indicated 30 litres.
I then did 35 miles and it dropped to 20 Litres showing.
Then when I filled up, the car only took 28 litres to brim it.
The website says 60 litre tank, which sounds a bit big to me, but if so it means the tank was over half full and must have been around that when previously showing empty.
Also when brimmed it showed 40 litres and has done ever since (another 50ish miles).

Any secrets I need to know, are we all in the same boat or is it just my car?

It's one of those puzzles about being at a crossroads and being told that one of two brothers will always lie to you.

...actually, once you get used to it, you can use it a guage rather than as a measure! PLus, most Mk2s will do about 180 miles or so safely on a tank on most raods, so you can use the odo instead.

The tank is actually 38 litres - that website REALLY needs updating!

And yes, we're all in the same boat...

Many thanks,
It really does make you feel better when you know you are not the only one!!

Of course once you own an Atom you also realise things like a fuel gauge are just luxuries you can live without.

Just slightly off topic, but most elise fuel guage are the same.

I always use the odo as a point to fill up with, never even look at the fuel figure anymore...
