Ariel or a Kit Car?

Saw what I thought looked like an Atom yesterday but it didn't look right. All the pictures ive seen have the see through chassis but this one didn't it had solid side panels? Is this an optional extra, a modification or have I seen some kind of Atom esk Kitcar?.

The Atom can have side panels fitted. The bolt onto the outside of the frame. Usually clear, but some people do use them for advertising.
