Hi,

Anybody know if the atom is now legal in australia, or any dates when this may happen ?

Thanks,
Pete

I'm on the mailing list at www.openwheelers.com.au/ .
The latest newsletter says the following:
newsletter said:

A quick update on the Ariel Atom in Australia - our apologies that the update is later than promised.

Ariel Motor Company and Open Wheeler Imports have now confirmed the major components in the Australian vehicle specification and we hope to finalise the remainder in a matter of weeks. This process has been subject to delays but is very much worthwhile - in addition to Australian Design Rule considerations we're choosing the best componentry from both the UK and US spec Atoms so that the Australian-spec Atom is the best of the breed.

As for compliance, we've made a huge leap forward this last month with input from a technical partner - we're now more certain than ever that the road vehicle compliance process will be successful in Australia.

So not much in the way of news at this time but we're working our way through the process. Hopefully we'll have more detail to give you in our next newsletter.

All the best,
Andrew

As usual, the Australian authorities obviously think they know better than the English ones

Thats looking better than the last info I read that said it probably would not happen.

But they do have a back order from australia that will take them a good number of year to supply, if they stick to the 25 a year that I read.

Thanks for the update.

I also asked if they were following Brammo's lead in the US and going with GM Ecotech engines instead of Honda.

Andrew said they have made a decision on engines but are not yet ready to announce.

Whereabouts are you Pete?

Tim

John have you been at that keg in your passenger seat?
Unlikely for a Quokka to see an Atom as cars are not allowed on Rottnest Island [/pedant]
