It was excellent fun - a meeting of Atom owners is always an event! Nice to have a few virgins on the molecule afterwards as well - sorry the 'pack' didn't wait for Richard and Ben - and where did John L and Adam get to? From the thumbs up, I have a feeling that we'll be seeing Adam on more molecules! So, that's the record so far for Atoms in one place - 10. There is video footage that Alastair got from my car... He's hoping to host it somewhere soon...
In general I thought the day was worthwhile. I picked up some good tips - frankly, if even one thing I absorbed on the day saves me from damaging something expensive, it will have been time well worth spending. I did think the emphasis was a bit too much on 'don't try this at home', though. Maybe we need to hold a coven and swap secret rites for doing stuff the professionals think are best left to them - well others can... I'm happy paying a professional to do this sort of thing for me and who I can blame afterwards! And Richard Marshall at Vegantune came across as very passionate about cars in general and the Atom in particular and highly professional and painstaking. Many thanks to him for giving up his time.

Was swamping rain on the way home down the M4 but I thoroughly enjoyed the drive both ways.
Noted comment on 'don't try this at home'. I think it's being overly cautious too. When I owned my Mini Cooper S 1297cc (I was about 20 at this time). I used to do all the work from simple bleading of the brake system to replacing the bronze valve guide. It was fun and I learned a lot.
With all the modern tools available these days, life is made somewhat easier.
e.g.
There's a system that you can connect to the brake master cylinder that forces brake fluid in under a little pressure so no need for a 2nd person and no risk of air getting into the system either. Just loosen the nipple on the caliper, release some fluid and tighten again.
Was interesting how Richard stated how the brake fluid in the cylinder cooked on track days and needed replacing whereas Tom stated they'd never had any problems. I love tinkering.
I must say that Richard's Atom looked as if it had just been collected from the factory - it looked so clean!!

Agree on this one. They suggested collecting my car from Cambridge on a trailer to....change the plugs + dizzy cap + leads. This is about as simple a job as you can ever hope to do !
Will be going back to Vegantune for stuff like an engine re-map (which I would try to diy if I had the software) but will stick to diy for simpler service items.

After going south through the Hatfield tunnel we both turned onto the M25 to go home. We stayed together until Adam turned off for the M3. For some massocistic reason I love driving in the rain. I think it's the look of fright and bewilderment on peoples faces as they go past.

Agree, really enjoyed my drive home yesterday (were staying with friends over the weekend). A bit hairy aquaplaning across a puddle on the A1, kept away from the outside lanes from then on.
