Hi
I don’t own an Atom, although if I ever get my hands on a garage that’s what would fill it!

Here is a question
If for all the performance runs for the magazines the sc used 2nd gear for starts why not just put some new ratios in and put the 2nd gear ration in 1st and use the 'extra' gear else where like at the top? Is it purely saving cash or going easy on the clutch?

Just wondering......

Don't know about the Atom specifically, but on cars with enough torque-to-weight to spin the wheels in second it may be faster to do that, and save the time of the gear shift. But it's a lot harder on the clutch and transmission, and you wouldn't want to do this in day-to-day driving. My V8S will spin the wheels happily in second, but I still use first gear a lot in traffic.

But an Atom is so light I cant see how it could damage the clutch its not like the Atom is heavy!

Could be quite a nice option for the 300 version.
