Guys,

I've taken the decision to buy a new Atom.... now all I have to do is choose the spec of the car...

So as it is going to be replacing a 996 GT2.... the funds are not going to be an issue... will make a change to get money back when buying a new car!!!!

The question is money no object (nice to be able to say that I know) what spec car do I go for, what options and other upgrades should I buy and what are the nice to have's and the avoid at all costs....??

Thanks for all your help

You'll find that the factory are brilliant at this. They're not out to make you tick all the boxes, but if I were you, I would tick everything that enhances performance. And make sure you get the car set up for the way you're going to use it most.

Personal taste stuff includes whether to bubble screen or not to bubble screen. I think they don't look as good, but they certainly help on long journeys - without, a crash helmet is de rigeur, with, you can get away with 'shoggles' (see atomclub site) on most journeys. Same with side screens.

The choice of frame colour is a whole other can of worms. On colour, I strongly advice against dark colours as the Atom is hard enough to see in the mirror at the best of times and a bright colour means people stand a better chance of seeing you zooming up behind them.

Other non-performance boxes to tick are 12v power socket and autocom - they make journeys even more fun!

Also, don't forget that apart from the car you'll have lots of other stuff you might want to buy - new crash helmet; waterproofs; heated clothing; washbags for tookit; custom monitor earplugs and much more... Then there's the custom paint job; the memberships of RMA and Goldtrack; not to mention your £28 membership of the AAOC!

Actually, that's probably about it. Oh yes, you could go for a TomTom rider satnav/anti-scamera device.

Or go the full Sloman and have everything custom built!

You'd be amazed at how much you can spend once you start...

Well my excuse is saving money and getting much more value out of all my biking gear....lol

Plan to get down to the factory over the next couple weeks to get the first part of the decisions done.

Thanks so far to everyone for all the advice and look forward to meeting you I finally get a car!

Cheers

Kurt

Kurt,

I've just gone from a 355 GTB / 993RS via an Atom 220 to an Atom 300, so had a similar debate.

Key question is what do you want to use it for, since the spec you would go for might not be the same.
