Does anybody know if there is a combined speed trap dectector and sat nav unit on the market that would fit in the Atom and plug into an Autocom system.

I have both technologies in my other cars and would feel lost without them. Many companies provide compact units for one or the other but I have yet to see one that does both.

You could have something like Tom Tom Go or Tom Tom 5 for a PDA, you can download all the speed camera points but not stand alone radar cover.

And they're not waterproof!!!

Mind you, get the Tom Tom 5 with bluetooth and you could keep the PDA in your pocket with the audio pluged into your comms. That might work.

.... and it works brilliantly.

I have an MDAIII PDA with Tomtom 5 and bluetooth sat receiver - it doesn't even need to be able to see the blue sky. Works a treat and you can add a silicon cover.

There's something called a tom tom rider which is either available now or will be shortly. Basically all the usual tom tom stuff but in a smaller waterproof package.

Sounds like it would be ideal for the Atom.

The advantages of a PDA such as the MDAIII or XDAIIi is that they dual as a mobile phone and have many many more uses. I have the Jeremy Clarkson & Fifth Gear video on mine!

In addition there's a pice of software by Automotive Wolf that helps you record the entire history of your Atom - mileage, costs etc etc.

Tomtom 5 is very good and caters for walkers as well as drivers.

If you want more details please email me off list

I like the tomtom system - not just because it's really good, but also because you can be directed by John Cleese or even Yoda: "Turn right at the next junction, you should"

The only downside to the idea of a combination device is taking it to France...you either lose the satnav or choose to take the risk of getting it confiscated.

The way the sneaky French work is to use binoculars to see if you have a device in your windscreen.
Since the Atom does not have one...they will be confused and distracted!!!

I have driven in France quite a lot. The police are fairly absent on the roads unless it is Le Mans week, in which case they are everywhere. Very unsporting and synical of them.
