Great - but it would be good to have a few more cars. I'm afraid I can't do it that weekend. When I check the diary the only full weekends I can make are 13th/14th August (preferred) or 17th/18th September (seems a looong way off). I could make the Saturday on several other weekends but then why am I complaining - it's only two and a half hours away!
You can do the ring most days on a public weekday between 5.15pm - 7.30pm and at weekends from 10:00am to 7:30pm, all for €15 a lap. However, you'll be sharing with the world and his wife and her granny in her diesel astra.
Organised trackdays are much better because only 'proper' drivers are allowed out and there are no motorcycles. The next one I can find is on November 10 & 11 organised by RMA.

Zakspeed also do traing days there:
Exclusive sports car training on the Nordschleife (1/1,5 day(s), € 750.00/ € 950.00)
This training course is for drivers with racing ambitions. Get to know the "Green Hell" with your own sports car. In this exclusive course, well-known instructors experienced on the Nordschleife will take care of you. The first day consists of theory, as well as the first training laps on the Nordschleife. The second day consists of driving on the Nordschleife again (08.00am - 01.00pm)

However, Spa is probably equally close to Alastair and there are lots of trackdays there. Different, I know, but equally interesting. But then I'm biased, because I don't like the ring much.

I'm doing Spa on 10th, 11th August with RMA. All welcome. It will be my first proper outing in Puff the Magic Dragon.
Bruce is right. I'm fine with public days, but it is a bit of a lottery, and the RMA day (which I am also doing) is the next private track day there. Pistenclub occasionally organise days there, but there are none in their calendar.
On public days, its open pretty much each weekend over the summer. These days are usually pretty busy, and there are hardly any weekdays. The next is 11th August, then 15th. I can't do either.
