Hi All,

Can those of you with Autocom systems suggest which one I should go for. The 'active rider' system seems like the best value compromise as I am sure I could add telephone mute to it for about 4pence rather than the £50 they ask for the next one up.

Other question is how portable are the systems between helmets, i.e. will every passenger have to buy one or can one be moved between users ?

I use the active 7 smart. It's best not to scrimp on these in my opinion.

They aren't especially portable, but an extra headset is only £45.

Agreed about not scrimping, especially when it comes to electronic gizmos.

Some more q's

Assuming an underseat install will the seat still be just as 'easy' to move ?

Does anyone have experience of Starcom 1 intercoms www.starcom1.com/index.htm they also sound worth considering.

Cheers

Richard has his system neatly installed into the seat (see pic in gallery), mine is very casually velcro'd in as I need to move it from bike to car. Some people have power sockets in the seat, mine is loose coming up through the gearbox hole.

Yer takes yer money...

As for other systems, if they're not that much cheaper, why would you? Also, synchronicity would be good for molecules...

Shirly it is more important that they interface to the Motorola radios for molecualar purposes ? That being the case can you let me know which series / model the moto radios you have are ? If this is not the case then the Autocom obviously wins as the main point of installing a system is molecular.

I have the Starcom 1 installed tho'haven't really used it much on the Atom, but will be testing it 'under extreme conditions' at Bedford next weekend (I'll have passengers). Tho' that said, it served me very well on my old touring bike on many tours locally and on the continent. Regarding molecular use, does it matter which radio one uses surely they all operate on the same frequencies or is it that some are not PTT (which I suppose might be better in the Atom)?

Surely there'll be a Skype client compatible with the Atom before long...

VOX (voice activated) is the only way to go in an Atom. Press To Talk takes too much effort! When car to car, the frequencies matter, so the radio doesn't - most radios available in the UK use the same ones. However, when both in the same car - passenger rides, playing in each other's cars etc., having a consistent interface would be sensible, I think.
