Summer track days
Discussion
Having picked up my car last Saturday I'm now busy planning a summer of trackdays!
I'm going to the RMA day at Bedford on the 2nd July(did anyone else go for this one?) and I'm doing the Ultimate Car Control day on the 10th July.
Looking further ahead I'm thinking of heading to Goodwood on the 8th August with Easytrack and then Keevil with motorsport-events.co.uk on the 22nd August.
Has anyone any experience with motorsports-events.co.uk? Do they run good days?
Thanks,
Alastair

Motorsport events are a good outfit to go with, very friendly and Ed Moore doesn't stand any nonsense
He's also a very good driver/instructor. I beleive Aston Martin use him to train their customers ( sorry , should that be 'clients' - Ford have customers) how not to chuck their shiny new purchase through a hedge
I'll be doing a few of their dates through the summer

A few trackday tips:
Subscribe to Circuit Driver. Great for listings of track days and helpful advice. There are also online listings available.
Book early and pay in full early or you will come a cropper with the easyjet-style pricing
Only go with trackday companies you know and trust, or those recommended to you by mates
Don't do cheap ones. They're usually attended by people with little regard for their vehicles (which tend to be less expensive) and who don't have the experience or skills to get around a track without falling off or hitting something (in my own humble experience, of course)
Open pit lanes are better than sessions - especially when someone goes off necessitating a red flag and screwing up the rest of the session
Check out the trackday guides in the member's section of Atomclub (if you're a member) and see the links on the site for other useful stuff...

I did Bassingbourn with Motorsport-Events last Friday and was very impressed. Slightly intimidating as the other drivers were all of a very high standard, unlike myself.
The quality of instruction was miles ahead of that which I received at Bruntingthorpe and they were patient with the Mrs who had never driven on the track before (or even been karting !)

With the notable and delightful exceptions of Jody Kidd and my wife, I don't think I've ever seen a woman driving an Atom. They appear to like sitting in the passenger seat at speed, though. They keep mumbling something about 'fast spin cycle'. Haven't a clue what they're on about...
In case the Mrs reads this thread (which she might) I should point out that my above comment was in jest. After a spin (which was obviously not big or clever) in the morning to convince her she was not going to instantly be a fast racing driver and a couple of lessons she was pretty good.
She will be coming on some more track days over the summer with me so hopefully you can all see a woman driving an atom !

Seema (my wife) muttered something along those lines as well. So the Atom is a 30 grand vibrator...oh well.
