Just bought a bottle of octane booster (15fl oz). It's for use at Santa Pod this Sunday for a bit of fun,i want to see what my baby can do in a straight line as i haven;t dared take her round a corner yet!
do you think it's safe to use? Could it mess up the engine(mapping)? It was only a tenner so if i can't use it it's not a problem. Flames would be a nice finishing touch though!

I don't think that it will cause any harm at all, on the other hand I don't think it will add much to the power either.

Higher rated fuel can give you more power, but it's normaly only gained by changes in timing, boost, compression ratio, etc.

I'm not sure if the Honda or Hondata system "learn" the octain and change the timing etc to suit, I don't think the Hondata will.

You may have to go though some strange routine to get it to do it, like running the car on the better fuel for a couple of tanks and then disconnecting the battery for a few minute then thrashing it (thats how you have to with Suburu's).

Anyway, could be completely wrong............

Nooooo! Don't do it. You can screw up your lambda sensor among other things. I know of one person who had real difficulties with their Honda after doing this.

Unlike a Honda, the Atom has only 520kg so you really don't need the extra power ...

Cheers,
Andrew
