How do you pronounce ARIEL?

We have a debate going on in my household!

How should ARIEL be pronounced?

Should it be (sounds like) Are Real?
or
Should it be (sounds like) Air Real?

Most pronounce it as the latter.

Air-ree-al, or more probably air-ree-ul. As in car aerial, Ariel washing powder, Ariel the Disney princess (sorry, was reading it to my daughter last night ...)

Depends on what it refers to, like the thing you are sitting on to read this is a "Seat", howeve the thing on 4 wheels also called a "Seat" is not pronounced the same as the thing you are sitting on is it?

Ariel could have the emphasis on the "a" perhaps if it was a persons name.....

Cos the font is spelt different - like - guvner.
