Anyone else fancy popping over to the Ring for 27th May? RMA day, great value: £455 including chunnel and hotel.

I'll be there, although Atomless 'til the new one comes, with a couple of mates in an M3 E30 and a 996 GT3.

Ummm ...you reckon a 120 would be any fun round there, or would it just get boring? Are there enough fuel stations along the way - its only got a 25 litre tank.

Sure: I have driven a 140 bhp Caterham round there and it was a complete hoot. The Ring is all about flow and corner speed, like any circuit power always helps.

There is one section, from Bergwerk up to the Karussel which will be frustrating, but can feel that way even in a 993 RS. It is however a mile or so out of 14.6 ....

One of the best days I have ever had there was in a rented Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec. Met up with a bunch of Brit bikers, who could not, simply could not, get their heads round the fact that they could not keep up with me. Ended up driving them round, 3 at a time, all leathered and lidded up in the F'cus. Right gas.

As an aside, this is one of the cheapest days I have ever seen for a pucka closed circuit, no muppets, day. We are staying at a friends hotel which is nearer and cheaper. Probably not 5 star, but top food and nice clean rooms. Ace English owner runs it with her husband.

...and the frequency of filling stations along the way? I get less than 100 miles to a tank ...often considerably less...

Considerably less might not be ideal. I would suggest sticking a 20 litre jerry can in the M3 just to be sure.

Petrol stations are roughly every 40-50 miles. You can juuuuuust make it with one stop in a 220 if you stick to a steady 100mph and fill up just this side of Brussels. There are at least three petrol stations this side of Brussels, and three I can think of the other side on the autoroute, and two between Prum and Gerolstein, but realistically they will be shut by the time you pass them. The only bit I would worry about is the section after you leave the E40, since there are none on the E42 and the two on the 257 are likely to be closed. That's about 100 clicks or so. 20 litres in the M3 would be a good safety net.

Have you got a big jerry (so to speak!)? If not, I can lend you one and I live reasonably near Jason, although I am actually going out via Oslo, so will fly into Frankfurt and get a driver up to the hotel.

If you Del Monte, book the no hotel package with RMA and I can talk to Jacqui and sort a room out there.

Well, I've decided to go for it ...any other takers, or am I going to be the only one embarrassing myself?

14k for a 36 foot solar heated outdoor pool, probably £500 per year to run if someone comes in and cleans it for you, any more questions?
