Anyone planning on heading to Bedford for the RMA track day on July 2nd? It'll be my first run out in the new car, due mid-June.

Would be very interested in going as well.

Just waiting for confirmation from Simon/Tom on when the new one is due to be finished.

Bruce, too close to the June one for another Atom get together?

I always enjoy Bedford...

...but it's the day after my Brands GP day...

Oh, what the hell...

Someone stick it up on the events calendar and I'll come along.

I dare say that I'll be up for this one - just need to get the car run in now.

Cheers, Ross.

Ross congrats on the new motor. Just missed you at the factory on Saturday, but I saw your new shiny 245 waiting for you. Anyone going northbound on the M5/M6 may have got the impressioon the Atoms were common...

Tom told me there was another two headed towards your neck of the woods(ish) soon - one for Bolton and another for Macclesfield.

Assuming the new motor is ready, which it should be, sounds good.

I think this might be an oportunity to bring the might of the AAOC to bear on RMA. Don't book anything just yet... we might get a deal (Sorry Al, I know you've booked already, but you can ask Graham at RMA for something 'extra' in lieu if we get any discount!)

Yeah, sorry I missed you Mike, I should have planned things a bit better, but I had to get off to see my brother in Salisbury.

Tom didn't mention the other's up our way - good news though, I imagine I'll see at least one howling up and down the Cat & Fiddle sometime.

Where are you based Mike? I much prefer my driving in Yorkshire, so maybe we can meet up sometime.

Cheers, Ross.

Hi Ross

Good to meet you on Saturday - congrats on the new motor, looks v tasty! Thanks for the tips you gave me too. Shame about the weather closing in as I got there, it meant a run was off the menu.

Hope to catch up with you at a trackday sometime.

Cheers

Andy

Hi Ross

I live in Halifax and work in Leeds. I think there are some good runs to be had along the Pennines, apart from the fact that Saddleworth Moor is always so blustery. It would be nice to meet up. I'm giving the 220 it's first proper run out at Cadwell in June. I fancy Oulton though, but why does it always seem so expensive? There's also Croft which is a nice little circuit and Elvington (airfield) near York. I've never been but I have a chum who raves about Anglesey too. I forgot about the run over the Cat & Fiddle - I used to go to college in Buxton whist living in Macc, so I know (knew?) the road well. I'll have make up an excuse to give it a blast across!

Apart From Pete, there's also a guy with a 300 in York called Miles who I haven't met, but Tom says he's a really nice bloke. I didn't know you were collecting yours on the same day or I maybe would'nt have set off soooo early!

Cheers

Mike

Hi Ross

Just wonder why you went for the 245?

I wanted the 300 but just couldn't afford it in one hit so I wanted an ecconomical option to upgrade and the 245 seemd to be the best option.

Mike, yep we'll definitely have to have a northern get together. Oulton Park - yeah, a bit pricey, but trust me it's a mint circuit, especially in the Atom. We'll have to fix a date to go (still running mine in at the moment).

Cat & Fiddle is a good run if you can find a quiet time, otherwise it is a bit frustrating. For gawd's sake, go carefully though - get thing's wrong up there and it will almost certainly be very messy.

I'll have to think about Cadwell, as I've always fancied a run there. Same with Croft and Anglesey (which I've heard good things about).

Elvington I know well as I grew up in York - good fun on a sunny day, but generally a bit rough on the car.

Yeah, shame that Tom didn't mention that others from the northern climes were collecting on Saturday as well - oh well.

John - same reasons as you really, plus improved driveability and also the speed based (rather than revs based) 6th gear gate.

OK. RMA have agreed to offer the first six AAOC MEMBERS who call Amy on 01628 779000 the RMA members' price for this day (that's £245 - a saving of £50!)

Get dialling...

Cheers Bruce. I just called RMA and they're going to knock 50 quid off my next booking. Thanks for sorting that out.

Also, the Shoggles arrived yesterday. Brilliant. All I need now is the car!

How come RMA charge £295 as standard???

I notice that Easytrack have a day there on the 9th July for £189 which minus our club discount seems like an absolute bargain!

According to the website the standard charge for non-members is 245.

With the AAOC discount its 195.

Ah I see, my misunderstanding. £195 is much better, I'm booked in.

Cheers, Ross.

Maybe I am being thick here but the RMA web page

www.rma-limited.co.uk/diary.php

Shows it as being £295 for non members on Sat 2nd July, the £245 is for a 20th Aug date. Have I missed something ?

You're quite right Ross!

RMA justify their higher prices by offering fewer cars on track, better drivers, and they price to keep out the less experienced, less committed element that can turn up on trackdays.

However, having said that, the Easytrack event will be significantly cheaper at £176 to AAOC members! (a saving of £69 - the RMA price will be £245 for AAOC members - their non-member price being £299) And second drivers and passengers are a lot less expensive with Easytrack - £100 as opposed to £245 - again this is to keep the numbers on track civilised...

So which one should we make the AAOC date then? The busier, less experienced, significantly cheaper one, or the sparser, better drivers, probably sexier cars to pass, more expensive one?

I think it's a close call... I'll probably attend both. The RMA one as a spectator/passenger (having just done a day at Brands GP the day before) and the 9th as a driver.
