See thread "Anyone fancy a visit", if you cannot make the trek to North Perrott. Your best hope is a drive out with a current owner. As you will see from above thread I like excuses to get out and about. Anywhere in London is OK by me.
(Sorry for big smiley, but just found a website and wanted to test out my posting skills! See other threads on how to post pictures.)

John,
I have done roughly the same as you: I had a 993RS, probably one of the best in the country and a 355. It was the red one in Autocar which beat a GT3 II round the Ring, and bluntly was nicer to drive, plus braked much better. Trouble is, they cost an arm and a leg to run on track. Then the RS was stolen, which meant I was forced to rethink. Either buy another RS or go a different route.
I debated Caterham (no crash protection, know too many limping Crate-racers), Radicals etc (they WILL break down, know a mate with two, so one will work) and then went and drove a 220. Its as close to a road legal single seater as there is. Just sold it to get a 300. The 220 is quicker round the Ring than my RS. Much. The 300 will be insane.
Its worth the trip to Somerset: they are happy to do Saturdays. But get a ride from someone in town. Check the owner's site www.atomclub.com for the track days people are doing and general news. Our 300 will be delivered mid-June and on track thereafter. You are welcome to come for a ride on track when I have it.
I'll let the car speak for itself from a handling perspective, but as for practicality: its a lot better than it looks. Check Bruce's MezMeyrick experience in the club site under news. I felt no worse after a day trip to the Ring than I would have done in the RS. As my PSI said, "there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear".
