It's good to see some items being posted about what to wear.

Bearing in mind the Atom has no boot taking rain gear with you probably means you're gonna end up humping it around when you leave the Atom.

In my motorcycle days I used to wear Barbour jacket and trousers for those rainy days. They were excellent for defending from the elements.

I've been out of the wet weather gear market for somewhile now so I'm interested to hear what you guys are using - helmets too and intercom stuff.

You are right, its like a bike, so you do end up carrying clobber around! I wear:

- Full-face lid (always - I recognise this is a personal thing, I don't feel safe without one, plus I am usually going to a track and its an easy way to carry it)
- Ultimate Ear plugs with monitors and iPod
- Buff neck scarf / snood (weather dependent)
- Motorbike all in one oversuit (Reise or Hein Gericke, I have two), unless its very sunny, in which case I wear a windproof fleecy (www.cintamani.is Icelandic firm and if it keeps the wind out there....)
- Fleecy (or not weather dependent)
- Heated waistcoat (weather dependent)
- Roll neck (for long journeys, I wear Sparco race ones, cos I have lots)
- Chairman Maos - green quilted side-zipped trousers, available from Silvermans or army surplus stores
- normal trews as well
- Sparco race boots (cos I have them) or deck shoes

That's enough to keep me warm on a zero degree trip out to the Ring, pretty much what I wore on the MezMeyrick Trip to the Ring so flatteringly reported by Bruce on the owners club site (no heated gear, wasn't cold enough that time).

Actually, apart from the capacious boot into which you can fit a set of golf clubs...

hacksawn down into very small lengths...

...there are actually places to put things. If you don't have the seat all the way back, there's a nice area behind it both driver and passenger side which isn't affected by wind, where you can stuff soft clothes, Sainsburys bags etc...

Here's my list of stuff working from the top down (and avoiding the unpleasant middle bit). Please don't let the length of this list put you off. I've been driving Atoms for years and it all sort of got collected. I don't wear it all at once, just as appropriate to the weather and conditions:

Full face helmet with Autocom (you asked about intercoms - Autocom is the best, mainly for its stunning noise reducing microphone).

Second 'guest' helmet, also fitted with Autocom

Black and clear visors for each, depending on how sunny it is and how cool I feel!

Lots of other past-their-sell-by-date helmets without Autocom - does anyone every throw helmets away?

Warm woollie hat - tight fitting so it doesn't blow away

A variety of shades including Wileys, the new AAOC ones, Raybans, Revos etc. etc.

Aviator goggles with interchangeable lenses

Buff snood

Belstaff two piece padded windproof waterproof suit - warm and dry

Hein Gerike one piece oversuit with diagonal zip

Furygan rubberised biker jacket - tres chic!

Sparco race suit

Sparco underwear

OMP race gloves

Klan heated gloves

Alpinestars kid gloves

Silk lining gloves

Frank Thomas waterproof gloves (are we seeing a picture developing here?)

Alpinestars incontinence pants (well, rubber overtrousers, but you know what I mean)

Race boots

Any tightly fitting shoes

And that's about it...

Having said all that, last week I was out in the car and just wore the main lid, sweatshirt, jeans, trainers and kid gloves and I was absolutely fine...

Yes - you have a glove fetish - your wife has a red Nomex fetish - I don't wish to know anything more about your relationship.

My 120's fixed - I'll be there at the weekend - with at least 2 pairs of gloves (calm down dear) - so let battle commence.
