I'm just putting together my spec for Atom. What did you settle for in the end?

Racecar ...superb! As you were kind enough to trust me with yours, you can have a shot in mine if you like ...which will pretty much be all of the above, minus a few un-necessary bits (such as brake light and "paint") ...with possibly a few other bits added on!

There's one thing more magical than an Atom and that is .....

I've never been able to understand how, when I chuck all my dirty clothes 'n stuff on the floor by the washing machine how it ends up all washed and ironed in my wardrobe - now that is magic!

Bruce, how often do you drive your Atom and what sort of mileage do you do track/road?

To be honest, I don't know if this is a fair question, or if I'm a typical Atom owner for that matter... The Atom is just one of a number of cars and other vehicles I'm able to play with (no kids, so more toys you see). I long ago came to the conclusion that there was no one single perfect car for everything. The Atom fills in the tick boxes under trackdays/fast/fun/special/outrageous/cool

To answer your question, though, I try to do at least one trackday a month - more like two or three if I can get away with it! Especially from April to October. I think I average about 250 miles per trackday (based on 20 mins per hour for seven hours at average 100mph) but I could be hopelessly wrong.

I drive the Atom in central London for a hoot when the weather's nice, and have driven it on the odd journey of more than 100 miles (but not often).

Nice - almost exactly the same spec as ours.

We haven't got the:
- double bubble screen
- side panels
- ally handbrake (no handbrake)
- high level brake light or
- locking fuel cap

they don't make it go or stop faster :-) We have got:

- Alcons front and rear with Pagid pads
- battery master switch (doesn't make it faster, but scrutineers like it)
- rear towing eye
- rain light replacing the fog light
- 12v socket

The high level brake light might be a good idea, given the Atom's propensity to blow the normal bulbs - what does it weigh?

Sadly the Atom-specific Avons won't be ready until after our car is delivered, so we will have to wear a set out first. Can't wait for the first Ring trip in it . . .

P.S. - Datasafe: its not magic. They are called staff. Most agencies can supply them for under a tenner an hour :-)

Meyrick

Tow hook, hadnt thought of that, hadnt even realised there isnt one!!

How does the rain light differ?

When does your car arrive?

What colour?

Im up for a trip to the ring, are there many atom owners who go?

Sorry about all te questions - a little excited

No worries, me too.

Towing eye, not hook. Means that if it gets parked in the kitty litter at a race the marshalls have a towing eye to pull it out with, rather than wrecking one of the wishbones

Rain light? LED, high brightness. FIA requirement for wet races, so scrutineers insist on it

When? Mid june or thereabouts

Red, like the current one

Ring trip. See the owners club site for Bruce's writeup of our last trip. I couldn't persuade anyone to drive out with me. There will be plenty more, all posted on the forum. Probably some Spa trips - there are a few spaces on 25th May, but I can't make that one.

James,
Very good spec for your car.
Are you absolutely sure that you want "black side panels" instead of transparent ?
If someone can modify a lateral Atom pic with simulating a black side panel to show you the result, perhaps you'll change your opinion.
Perhaps you have to think again about this.
Cheers

As we say in France :
Une(1) de perdue, 10 de retrouvées ...

and that's not difficult with an Atom !!!
