Do you have a picture of the seat unit/ dash WITHOUT the non slip coating.

I didnt find them comft, too small across the shoulders, Simon suggested leaving them unfinished and making a support!?!

Any one else find this, or am i just a fat bstard

So i'm a fat bastard to, because in the new seats that i have on the new black Atom (and it's the first car delivered with it), i have some difficulties with my shoulder to and with my 2 elbows because we are placed lower into the seat, but the sides have both the same high (side and center) as the original one.

Monza

Any chance of sitting in yours???

Simon told me that the new seat is around 2 inches lower...is this right. I felt i was sat on the car a little rather than in it and the wheel was a littl in my lap too much.

The worst part though was for me to be comfortable I needed the seat to be more upright.

Sounds like the seat was set too far back... My body shape is XXL (195cm and north of 100 kilos) and I fit fine... apart from that bloody strut just by my right elbow! My shoulders are 'snug', but you're grateful for that on fast corners. Mind you, that tight fit thing can go too far... Having just travelled back from the Ring in OMP racing seats, Ariel Atom ones are like wudgy armchairs!

Has anyone toyed with retrofitting race seats - Jon? I think you have... is it an expensive pain?

I also had a 2cm steering wheel extension on my Mk1 which brought the wheel closer to me - just a personal preference and a hangover from racing days.

Bruce

Just got of the phone with simon, confirmed my car spec, so by August should be proud owner of a 245/300

They are going to try extending the steering colom, im used to the rally thing, rotate the pitch on the seat, and if that dont work pour a seat for me to fit into the seat unit.

Lets see what happens.

PS my dilema know is what bloody colour.....

I may not necessarily be the right person to ask about colour!

I slip around a fair bit in the old seats - at least at the Ring I do. I haven't tried the new seats yet, but I was planning on using some of this expanding foam stuff to create an inner seat (which is what we do in race seats where we have two drivers, set it to the larger one, then make an inner seat insert which the smaller driver uses) to mould round my snake-like hips (!!!) and keep me perfectly in place.

As an aside, it may be an easier route to use than altering the seat too materially if you don't like the position.

As I'm perhaps the only one after Ariel team to have used the two seats (old and new), i confirm that there is a (logical) difference as already explained.
I know Ariel is looking for some adjustments on the new seats.
EVYEVO : I'm living near Angouleme in the SouthWest of France ... You welcome !
Perhaps Bruce will be the first to visit me in June, That's an honour for me President.

I too have a problem with shoulders wedged in the seat. I do not think it's a weight issue rather a hight issue. I think short people, like myself, when seated in an Atom find that the widest part ie shoulders are at the narrowest part of the seat. Tall people (like Bruce) will find that their shoulders are actually higher than the "wrap" around part of the seat. Where as us shorties are getting their shoulders stuck. Also I find the gear stick is too far away for my little arms. I think seat design and positioning of gear stick have a lot to do with Simon's shape tall and skinny!!!!!!!!!!!
