Hi guys,

Are the K20's that are used by the factory new from Honda or are they nearly new from breakers/dealers?

Only wondering because I just got off the phone to a guy from "24/7 Spares" and he says that he ships almost every single one of the K20's he gets in straight to out to a "car company" in Somerset, although they use a parent/holding company to pay for the stock. He knocks them out for £2,200+VAT each with around 10k otc. He said he's been doing this for about a year now.

Anyone know if this is Ariel? Or is this guy a little confused?

Cheers,
Jonny

I'm pretty sure the engines in the new cars I saw being built at the factory last Thursday hadn't done 10,000 miles! I don't see why it would make sense for Ariel to do that - its not like they're struggling for orders at list price - cutting corners wouldn't make sense. And having seen the order book, there are some VERY expensive Atoms waiting to be built!!

Totally agreed. They have no reason to do this - it's just a little mystery.

Hey guys, What is the problem with Ariel engines ??

Some weeks ago GMan has created a topic to say that Ariel will no longer have Honda engines from Honda UK :
i can say that it was a Wrong information.

Now, you are writting that a man told you that Ariel is using "used" engines ...
Two questions :
. If it was the case, do you think that Ariel will let you see the engines in stock immediatly on your left when you enter the factory ?
. Can you imagine the disaster for Ariel if a customer can proove that the engine is not a new one ?

An what will be the goal for Ariel : make immediate money and close to go to Bahamas ? So why are they building a new factory ?

So my opinion is that this topic has to disappear from this forum and i hope PH will cancel it very quick.

Sometimes misinformation is put out by rivals to destabilise what is a solid business. It says a lot for Ariel that a) they completely ignore these ridiculous rumours and b) that someone could be so scared of losing business that they'd resort to these cheap tactics...

Hi all,

You need a spin doctor better than the Labour party's to be in car production these days!

The Engine's Ariel get are factory approved, brand new Honda ones.

I'm not saying that 24/7 Spares are telling lies but there are several companies putting the Civic engine in the Lotus Elise and other conversions without offical Honda supply.

Apart from that, they wouldn't get hold of many 220bhp spec ones in the UK.

If anyone was worried, just ask to visit them on your cars build date and you'll see a shiny NEW engine sat there waiting to be fitted.

Thanks god no one knows about the old remould tyres they are putting on!

All good fun!

Ariel's reputation isn't in question here, I mean they make awesome cars, have an awesome history and I don't know of anybody that has an issue with reliability.

Not sure what this guy was on, but he was obviously talking crap, or was seriously misinformed himself.
